Join us for the culminating event of Monroe Reads Together. Author Sarah Smiley will speak about her family's experience and sign copies of her book, Dinner with the Smileys. The public is invited to attend at Jockey Hollow Middle School Auditorium. No tickets needed.
AARP Driver's Safety Program
Thursday, November 6, 12:30-4:30 PM
Designed for drivers age 50 and older, this course will cover rules of the road, recent law changes, various driving environments and other driving skills. Also reviewed will be necessary driving strategies to compensate for age-related physical changes. Participants may qualify for an auto insurance discount. Although there are no tests, to qualify for the discount, participants must complete the 4-hour session to be eligible.
Cost for the program is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members to cover materials and processing costs and should be brought to the program. Registration required...Link here.
Confessions of an Urban Archaeologist

Co-sponsored by the Monroe Historical Society. Greg Van Antwerp of Charter cable channel 21 will speak about antique photos and include some from the Monroe Historical Society collection. Greg searches for old glass negatives at flea markets and tag sales. The program will begin with a short video of the Historical Society's Rail Trail tour. Registration is required.
