Library Services – Current Phase

Current Phase Details – Effective February 28

As you are probably aware, Governor Lamont recommended lifting the universal mask mandate in schools and child care centers effective February 28, 2022. The Edith Wheeler Memorial Library will follow the Town of Monroe’s and the Monroe Board of Education’s lead and will suspend our policy on mandatory face mask/covering for patrons throughout the library, including the Children’s Room, effective February 28, 2022. Of course, staff and visitors may choose to continue to wear a mask. Please be respectful of all exercising their choice.

We are planning summer programming to be hybrid, a combination of in-person and virtual. However, there will be some pop-up events taking place outdoors during the summer months. Please keep an eye on our calendar and our e-newsletters to stay informed of these programs. Interactive toys will slowly appear in the Children’s Room.

We have discovered that people enjoy our patio books and also like the convenience of Library-to-Go, so those will continue as part of our regular services. Meeting room are available for public use upon request. The café is open and classes in the makerspace are available for booking. Please call the reference desk at 203-452-2850 for further information.

We’re adding staff members in preparation of this exciting news. Stop by and say hello!

Our hours are: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: 9-7; Thursday: 9-3; Friday, Saturday 9-2, and Sundays closed.

Thank you for your continued patronage. Our staff looks forward to seeing you in the building again!
