ON GOING PROGRAMS

R.E.A.D to Gracie: Spring Sessions
Wednesdays, April-June from 5:00 - 6:30 PM
Open to children ages 5-10. Gracie, a certified therapy dog and her handler, have been trained in the R.E.A.D. program which improves children's reading and communication skills. Animals are ideal reading companions because they listen attentively; do not judge, laugh or criticize; allow children to proceed at their own pace; are less intimidating than peers; and help increase relaxation and lower blood pressure. Each child will spend 15 minutes reading to Gracie. They may bring their own book or choose one at the library before their session. Registration is required, but will be limited to 3 sessions per child because of the popularity of this program. May registration will begin April 20 and June registration will begin May 18.
