Downloadable E-Books
OverDrive
OverDrive, the service that provides downloadable audiobooks,
now provides downloadable eBooks. Books can be downloaded to computers
then transferred to devices such as the Barnes & Noble nook and
Sony Reader. Download requires installation of Adobe® Digital
Editions. Kindle compatibility coming later this year.
eReader - NEW
The Library now has a Nook eBook reader available for patrons
to borrow. Borrowers must be 18 years old and a Monroe resident, Library
staff member, or member of Friends of the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library.
Monroe and out-of-town residents can also use the Nook in the Library
for one hour a day if it is available. Borrowers can read one of the
books already downloaded on the Nook or have the Reference staff download
one book of the patron's choice from OverDrive.
The Nook is available at the Reference Desk on a first come, first
serve basis and can be borrowed for a 14 day loan period with no renewals.The
Nook must be returned in person to the Edith Wheeler
Memorial Library Adult Reference desk. For more information, call

NetLibrary
NetLibrary eBooks are digital full-text versions of books
such as reference works, scholarly monographs, literature and fiction,
and 3,400 publicly-accessible titles.
