Children’s Summer Reading Guidelines

Preschoolers and children entering kindergarten through grade six are encouraged to register for our Children’s Summer Reading Program. If you can’t read yet, someone may read to you.  Beginning Wednesday, June 21, you can register online or in the Children’s Department. (Rising 7th graders might wish to join our teen program!)  Come to the library to pick up your summer reading starter kit (while supplies last) complete with bookmark, brochure, game board, and other goodies when you register.

A game board is included with each starter kit. Log your challenges online and earn one raffle ticket for our themed prize baskets for every game board challenge completed. Complete 10 challenges and earn a free book! You may collect two raffle tickets per library visit. Child must be present. Raffle tickets will be awarded beginning June 22. Tickets must be claimed by 8:00 PM, Tuesday, August 8th.

This year we are having themed prize baskets which will be raffled at our End of Summer Picnic on Wednesday, August 9. All tickets must be deposited by 8:00 pm on Tuesday, August 8. You may only win one themed basket. Winners need not be present and will be notified by phone.

Log your book titles online for the Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge! Books you read for the EWML Summer Reading Program also count for the Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge! You may print your list of books to give to your school.
